Walk in the moonlight and remember your loved ones.

With just one month to go before Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) Moonlight Memory Walk the charity is calling for people to join them for this special event.

The 5 mile sponsored walk around Falmouth is returning on the evening of 2 October along with a virtual option for those living further afield.

The Moonlight Memory Walk provides time to celebrate the lives of loved ones through a poignant memory ceremony before the five mile walk around Falmouth. Funds raised at the event will help CHSW to continue providing care and support to children and families through its Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell.

2021 marks the 30th anniversary for CHSW and as part of a year of celebrations members of the fundraising team are looking forward to being able to host this special walk after so much disruption to fundraising throughout 2020.

Kiley Pearce, Events Fundraiser for CHSW said “You don’t have to have a connection to the hospice, anyone can take part in the Moonlight Memory Walk. It is a special opportunity to walk, together with friends and family if you wish, and remember your loved ones at an uplifting event. We know many have been unable to say their goodbyes to loved ones throughout the pandemic so this is also an opportunity for them to do something positive and poignant to mark that.”

For those not able to make it to Falmouth on the evening the charity is offering a virtual alternative where supporters can do their own sponsored memory walk, of any route and distance at a time suitable to them, and will have access to watch a live stream of the memory ceremony online.

The Moonlight Memory Walk has raised almost £300,000 for the children’s hospice charity since 2009 and this year’s event is kindly being sponsored by National Friendly.
